Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our foundation

Cleared is built on a simple principle: your photos are yours, and they should stay that way. We designed every feature with privacy as the starting point — not an afterthought.

On-device processing only

All face detection, photo analysis, and grouping happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. Your photos are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service. We physically cannot see your photos — the technology doesn't allow it.

No data collection

Cleared does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

  • No photos or image data leave your device
  • No facial recognition data is stored or transmitted
  • No personal information is collected
  • No usage analytics or tracking is implemented
  • No third-party analytics SDKs are included
  • No advertising frameworks are used

No accounts required

Cleared does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information. You download the app and start using it — that's it.

Photo library access

Cleared requests access to your photo library only with your explicit permission through Apple's standard permission dialog. This access is used solely to scan, display, and — at your direction — delete photos. You can revoke this permission at any time through your iPhone's Settings.

Encrypted backups

When you choose to create a backup before deleting photos, Cleared generates a password-protected ZIP file stored locally on your device. This backup is shared only through the iOS share sheet at your discretion. NKC Investments LLC never has access to your backups.

Subscriptions and payments

All subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. NKC Investments LLC does not collect or have access to your payment information. Apple handles all billing.

Data retention

Because Cleared does not collect or transmit any data, there is no data retention period. Locally created backup files (encrypted ZIP archives) remain on your device until you choose to delete them. Face detection results are stored only in the app's local storage on your device and are removed when you uninstall the App.

Advertising and tracking

Cleared does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), or any other device identifiers for tracking or advertising purposes. The App contains no advertising SDKs or frameworks.

Third-party services

Cleared uses Apple's StoreKit framework for in-app purchases and subscriptions. This is the only third-party integration. No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are included in the App. NKC Investments LLC does not receive crash logs or diagnostic data from Apple unless you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers through your iOS settings.

Your rights (CCPA, GDPR)

Because Cleared does not collect, store, or process any personal data, there is no personal information to access, delete, port, or rectify under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or similar legislation. If you have questions about your data rights, please contact us.

Children's privacy

Cleared is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version here with a new “Last updated” date. Since we don't collect your contact information, we encourage you to review this page periodically.
